GSA Capital — Inside a Quantitative Fund

Monday, Feb 23, 2026
12:30 PM
JC 1.33A

An overview of GSA Capital and what a systematic quantitative fund actually looks like — from the inside. Free pizza provided.

The talk covers the role of GSA's technology teams, the divisions and stacks they run, and how they support researchers in the development and deployment of trading strategies. One of their software developers will share a recent project that compressed exchange trade and order data into a binary format, reducing replay time by roughly ten-fold and enabling rapid generation of intraday equity trading signals.

Speaker

Junhui Yang joined GSA in 2023 as a software developer supporting the firm's founder. He works on data pipelines, backtesting frameworks, monitoring systems, and other critical tools. Prior to GSA he read Mathematics and Computer Science at Merton College, Oxford, and spent time at Meta. Outside of work he plays the violin and piano, and is a tea enthusiast.
